This bit is made of solid Cuprigan with stainless steel rings. Cuprigan is an alloy consisting of 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron and 1% zinc. The oxidation process of the material gives it a pleasant smell and taste. The anatomical design follows the shape of the horse's mouth, providing gentle and even pressure distribution. The combination of the design and the unique composition of Cuprigan, stimulates the chewing process and salivation, allowing a fine connection to the sensitive horse's mouth. The upward-pointing scissors with ring stand slightly outward, providing optimal freedom for the horse's head. The bit has a sharp action on the mouth.

A Pelham bit can be used with Pelham straps and single rein as well as with double reins. The bit is suitable for strong and eager horses, among others. The lever action allows the horse to be set deep more easily, the longer the scissors the sharper the action. The mouthpiece of a single broken snaffle hinges at one point. It acts on the tongue, layers, corners of the mouth and sometimes on the horse's palate. When a rein aid is given, the bit takes on a V-shape. Because this mouthpiece has only one pivot point, the tongue lies more freely than with a double broken bit, for example.
