This supplement has been specially designed to stimulate the intestinal flora of the horse and also to strengthen its immune system and general resistance. It contains, among other things, a very high proportion of FOS (=Fructo-oligosaccharides). These are an ideal food source for the 'good' bacteria in the colon. These in turn stimulate butyric acid, which is the ideal source of nutrition for the intestinal wall, which greatly promotes the absorption of the nutrients. Butyric acid itself is also added to this mixture in the form of a tributyrin. It is therefore an important source of energy for intestinal cells, the better they work, the more efficiently nutrients are absorbed and unwanted substances are stopped. In addition to FOS, this mixture also contains MOS (= Mannan-oligosaccharides), which are especially important for controlling the intestinal flora. The live yeasts present in this mixture ensure proper functioning of fiber digestion in the colon. This is very important because sport horses have a limited amount of time to absorb their feed due to a lot of training, so they absorb it (too) quickly, with the result that starch gets into the appendix and disrupts everything there. The live yeasts support this problem. Threonine is also very important in this supplement because it is responsible for building up the intestinal mucosa (mucus). This mucus layer, in turn, protects the intestine against pathogens and undesirable substances. It is therefore a very extensive perfectly balanced mixture to provide the horses with ideal intestinal health.
